At the last GS1 General Assembly in China in May 2018, three more European representatives were elected in the GS1 Management Board:

  • François Deprey, CEO of GS1 France and Chairman of GS1 in Europe
  • Bruno Aceto, CEO of GS1 Italy and Vice Chairman of GS1 in Europe


joined Gary Lynch, CEO of GS1 UK and Vice Chairman of GS1 in Europe and Thomas Fell, CEO of GS1 Germany as members of the GS1 Management Board.

On the user side, Martin Reintjes, Member of the Executive Board at Dr. Oetker Nahrungsmittel KG was also elected, and Renaud de Barbuat, Chief Information Officer France at Carrefour was nominated as Management Board Vice-Chair.

Congratulations to all and we are in confident that the voice of Europe will be even better heard with such a strong team.

In addition to these nominations, Kathryn E. Wengel was appointed as new GS1 Management Board Chair. Ms Wengel is Worldwide VP & Chief Supply Chain Officer at Johnson & Johnson. As mentioned before, Renaud de Barbuat together with Julio Nemeth, President Global Business Services at Procter & Gamble, are the two Vice Chair.

Together with these appointments, GS1 welcomes three new Members that are joining its Management Board:

  • José G. Loaiza Herrera, Vice President of International Business at Grupo Exito;
  • Kerry Pauling, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Walmart International;
  • Rob Rekrutiak, Group Product Manager at Google LLC.

The community of GS1 Member Organisations approved these nominations at its annual General Assembly meeting which took place in Hangzhou (China).
