The European commission has recently decided to re-establish whether the alcoholic beverage industry should be submitted to the same requirements as the other products in the scope of the 1169 regulation.

In this sense, the alcoholic beverage industry submitted a self-regulatory proposal to the Commission. This self-regulatory proposal consists of the following documents: 


GS1 in Europe is following with great interest the developments of this legislation, thanks to a structured dialogue in place with the European Associations involved. In particular several meetings are being organised with spiritsEUROPE whose mission is “to represent, defend and promote the European spirits sector”. It represents 31 National Associations and 8 multinational companies.
