The MoU statement is very important for both organisations because GS1 in Europe and LoRa Alliance acknowledge the important roles played by their respective organisations in the development of open standards. Both organisations create standards in complementary fields: for LoRa Alliance on telecommunication protocols, for GS1 on identification, data capture and data sharing.

Both parties also recognise the value of collaboration in the field of supply chain scope, in order to answer their market demands.
