GS1 in Europe and GS1 Germany organized its first GS1 Hackathon together! The event took place in virtually, making it easier than ever to participate from all over the world.
Pandemic crises, global warming, scarcity of raw resources and social responsibility are urgent issues, that are changing the way people think, and how they consume and engage with products. Consumers want to be more aware of how their patterns of consumption might make a difference, and they are demanding - transparent and sustainable - products from producers.
The main purpose of this hackathon was to develop customer-centric solutions for more mindful and radically honest products, with the help of AI and data sources.
This is why GS1 in Europe and GS1 Germany partnered up with atrify, Google Cloud, Auto-ID Labs, worldwatchers, EVRYTHNG and Berief to host its first Hackathon together! GS1 is a Not-for-Profit standards organization, most well-known for its best seller: “The Barcode”. With it, digitalizing product information became fairly easy, and standardizing product-related information became their daily business. All that information is located and managed the atrify platform. This is one of the best product databases worldwide, with high-quality data; powered by Google Cloud.
We received more than 170 registrations for the virtual Hackathon and our participants over two intense days of hard work, were focused on three main topics:
