Deliverables The project is responsible to issue a clear strategy/position paper for Classification in GS1 in Europe and a Classification Implementation Guideline for users. As a benefit of the project users will obtain a coherent classification system covering the full spectrum of products and services from large to very small granularity. Agreement on versioning and use of the UNSPSC will furthermore facilitate a smooth use of the standard(s) across boarders and the implementation of the classification system. For present GPC users, the UNSPSC will provide opportunities in whole new sectors and in services and facilitate spend analysis and thus optimization of strategic sourcing. Present UNSPSC users obtain a greater granularity and an opportunity to be more involved in GDSN. A coherent (global) classification system enables crossselling of the products across borders.
