Aim
Our overall objective is to increase GS1 in Europe’s reputation among European policymakers as a valuable source of expertise and leadership in implementing user-driven standards and solutions. GS1 in Europe wishes to consolidate its role as a European policy stakeholder.
Scope
In 2010, our public policy efforts mainly focus on the following topics: - EU Standardisation policy - Privacy and Data protection matters related to RFID applications. - Internet of Things and Mobile Commerce - Healthcare - Sustainable Transport

Race networkRFID
GS1 in Europe is Member and Work Package Leader in the Race networkRFID. This initiative funded by the European Commission is an open Network of organisations willing to promote and share best practices on the development, adoption and usage of RFID. It gathers 25 contractual members, and a range of associated members.
The Network aims at defining a roadmap to RFID deployment in Europe, including the identification of potential barriers and opportunities for adoption in the EU.
The Network focuses on SME business communities and the potential that exists within them for product, process and services innovation.
